For many companies working within the ducting industry, the ability to present customers with a drawing of a proposed design is a must. Many customers will not allow work to start until they have seen a drawing of the proposed layout of the ductwork. In a lot of cases, the ductwork is just part of the overall job and needs to fit in with other items being installed. This means that designing a ducting system can be a laborious and timely process. Even using AutoCAD® can have its limitations when creating complex networks of ducting across large, sprawling buildings and workshops.

To help our customers, Nordfab have developed a of tool that works directly with AutoCAD to reduce the amount of time needed to create accurate, professional layout diagrams. The tool produces a fully featured BOM (Bill of Material) to speed up the quoting process.

NordCAD software works inside the standard licensed AutoCAD installation, using measurements provided to calculate the amount of ducting required. If a duct run is a non standard length and would require one of our telescopic ducts (Slip Duct) then the software will automatically add the slip for you. Installation is simple. After you register, we will send you a link to connect the NordCAD files to your AutoCAD. We also provide an helpful guide and there is also a video that shows you how the tool works - see below.

Using the tool couldn’t be easier, with a catalogue of our pre drawn parts to choose from that you can just select and add to your drawing. An initial line sketch layout is produced by the designer then they use the NordCAD catalogue of our products to choose the required parts. The tool then calculates exactly how much duct is needed to complete the system. 

Once your drawing is complete, NordCAD can produce a full BOM into an Excel file, which includes part numbers of all components required, amounts and dimensions. This BOM can be then imported by Nordfab dealers into Nordfab’s quoting tool which will automatically add the required clips to your quote, calculate costs, produce a quote. The quote is customisable with options to add your own business details, including your company logo.

These tools have been developed to help duct designers to manage their busy workloads and facilitate the normally lengthy process of designing and quoting duct systems.
